Mills

Photographing old water mills was one of Albert’s favourite pastimes. He gave a lecture on    “ Water mills, windmills, and some other mills” in 1934. He said mills had, “for many centuries supplied cheap and useful power, and in many instances they added charm and beauty to the landscape.”

The last slide Albert showed the Field Club on Friday March 2nd was, he thought, the best photograph he had ever taken. It was of Meadows Mill, Eardiston,  with “even the hoar frost on the trees and the little film of ice under the mill wheel being depicted”.

A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the speaker.

Meadows Mill -  01 3 is the original; sd35 is a smaller copy he would have used in his slide show
